David and Pauline traveled from Los Angeles for their destination wedding here in Las Vegas at the M Resort last month. The week of their wedding we had a chance to go out for a fun engagement session throughout Las Vegas and Henderson. David and I have shared many conversation via email and telephone and I felt we had a pretty good relationship leading up to this shoot. As I grew to learn more about them I found out how much DIY would be included in our session as well as the wedding as Pauline is quite the crafty knitting person who sells many handmade pieces on Etsy. David himself is an old school 8 bit gaming fan and being a computer tech they decided to include touches of both their interests throughout their wedding and engagement session. With a little makeup and hair styling by Makeup in the 702 for Pauline we were all set for our day.
As we began our adventure (yes i consider my engagement sessions and adventure
we headed out to Lake Las Vegas. However from time to time I like to throw a wrench in the spokes of plans and try something different. In Las Vegas there are many locations that have become the staples for many wedding and portrait photographers and I do my best to look into new directions for many of my shoots. So as we got closer to Lake Las Vegas i decided to drive past and keep heading down towards Lake Mead. We laughed and just went with it, since it had been many years that I have ventured into this lake I was unsure of what would have a look I was seeking. As we drove deeper in I looked down a pathway and saw a cool spot and decided that would be it. With a little walking and getting our feet wet we were there. The water was vibrant blue this day and it popped so nicely, the only thing missing was a jet ski or a boat. Maybe next time![]()

After playing in the water we headed out towards the south side of town for a little fun in a low key park area for a few photos before grabbing lunch together. I believe its a good break in a longer session to stop and relax and engage into some good conversation over a few bites and a drink.

After playing in the park it was time to switch into look 2 and head out to City Center on the strip, which by this time a little air conditioning sounded amazing! At this point they put their outfits together bow ties and all and we headed in for the end of our day together as we had a rehearsal to get to with the wedding party.

Yes as their engagement session came to an end we ran into this delicious ice cream shop and had to have a bite! A few big scoops to cool down before we took off to the M Resort. Pauline I think was the most excited about this tasty treat!
